Song of the Week: “Batches and Cookies” by Lizzo featuring Sophia Eris

This is “Batches and Cookies” by Lizzo featuring Sophia Eris:

“Batches and Cookies” leaped out of my radio last Friday morning to my immediate joy. I’d never heard it before, and that open salvo, “Batches and cookies, I got my batches and cookies, I got my batches and cookies” made me stop and pay attention. Everything else in the song kept that attention. Lizzo has a great flow, and she and guest rapper Sophia Eris both make a ton out of their voices–different tones, accents, enunciations bounce around the verses and chorus. The whole thing has both edge and a sense of humor–a twin-barrel attack straight outta Minneapolis that you oughta hear, that you gotta hear, and once you’ve heard, you gotta listen to again (and again).
