Song of the Week: “Replacements” by FUCK YEAH

Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

This is “Replacements” by FUCK YEAH:

One of the great things about music is that it’s a thing you can do with your friends. It’s also a thing that makes friends, and builds communities, as I’ve mentioned before. So, anyway, I woke up yesterday morning to a tweet from my friend Tiff, telling me (or, actually, telling someone else) that I’ll love this. So I listened. And listened again. And again.  I love that bass sound. I like the tension that starts, and thrums across the whole song, with hints of slackening, shot through with melody, with hints of exploding, but never, really, no, not really, ever changing at all, right until the last note, where it stops. I said go. I said go; I said go: go, go, go!
