Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
This is “A Room with a View” by Pizzicato Five:
I hadn’t listened to, or even really thought much about, Pizzicato Five, for several years until this weekend, when I kept waking up with “A Room with a View” stuck in my head. Presumably my brain was storing it in there for a special occasion, and apparently that special occasion was last weekend and the first part of this week. The Fifth Release from Matador is the only Pizzicato Five album I own. It came out in 1999, at a time when I was almost exclusively listening to punk and related types of things. It seemed like a real outlier in my musical tastes to me then, but listening to the album now after a long hiatus, it makes a lot more sense to me why I liked it so much.
