This week on the advice of my Australia-based pal Jeff I went to see Jen Cloher. It was a really good show. Her band, two guitars, bass, drums, had a big sound (the drummer has a Slayer-sized bass drum), and Jen Cloher herself writes good songs, has a good voice, and maybe most of all, performs with a nonchalant and natural swagger. Courtney Barnett’s lead guitar playing was superb as well.
