Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
This is “Puttin’ It Down” by Beck:
Back in 1994, Beck released three albums on three different labels: Mellow Gold, the one that made him famous, on Geffen, Stereopathetic Soulmanure, from which this song comes, on Flipside, and my favorite, One Foot in the Grave, on K Records. I love the sound of the line, “I’ll be better at kissin’ when my teeth are all missin’.” It’s probably not true, but it sounds like it could be true, and anyway, it’s totally inconsequential, so who cares?
