Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
Here’s a live version of “Angel of Death” by Slayer:
Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died last week. Metal might not be your thing, but Slayer is a band that, if you give them a close and open-minded listen, will escape from your preconceptions about metal or noise or Satan or whatever. They play fast and complicated music, and to hear them live is a real experience: loud, fast, overwhelming, exhilarating.
