Song of the Week: “Blitzkrieg Bop” by Ramones

Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

Here’s “Blitzkrieg Bop” by Ramones:

This week we mourn the passing of Tommy Erdelyi, known to you and me as Tommy Ramone. He was, of course, the last of the original Ramones.  Jon Wurster wrote a really nice tribute to him in Spin, which I encourage you to read. In addition to being a Ramone, he engineered a whole bunch of albums, including one of my favorites, The Replacements album, Tim. It was hard to choose which Ramones song to celebrate him with, but, well, y’know, it doesn’t really get any Ramoneser than “Hey-ho, let’s go!”
