{"id":1111,"date":"2015-08-28T09:03:33","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T08:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/douglascowie.com\/?p=1111"},"modified":"2015-08-26T09:17:09","modified_gmt":"2015-08-26T08:17:09","slug":"song-of-the-week-atomic-love-by-beatsteaks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.douglascowie.net\/?p=1111","title":{"rendered":"Song of the Week: &#8220;Atomic Love&#8221; by Beatsteaks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each Friday I pick a song\u2013new, old, borrowed, blue\u2013that\u2019s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s &#8220;Atomic Love&#8221; by Beatsteaks:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2rcdcE56qiQ\" width=\"462\" height=\"260\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I went to see Beatsteaks this week, mainly out of curiosity. I don&#8217;t know their music particularly well, but I know people who like them, and they&#8217;ve been around a long time, so I figured, what the hell.\u00a0 It turns out Beatsteaks know how to put on a show.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never seen so much hands-in-the-air-clapping from a crowd (except maybe at Primavera Sound in Barcelona&#8211;but the Spanish seem to enjoy a clap-along; maybe the Germans [most of the crowd was Germans] do, too?). Beatsteaks older material leans more towards the punk than the pop, while the newer stuff leans a lot further into the pop; needless to say, I liked the older stuff better. But what I did and didn&#8217;t like is really besides the point.
