{"id":1320,"date":"2016-07-01T09:07:33","date_gmt":"2016-07-01T08:07:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/douglascowie.com\/?p=1320"},"modified":"2016-06-30T10:26:22","modified_gmt":"2016-06-30T09:26:22","slug":"song-of-the-week-the-marquee-and-the-moon-by-sloan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.douglascowie.net\/?p=1320","title":{"rendered":"Song of the Week: &#8220;The Marquee and the Moon&#8221; by Sloan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each Friday I pick a song\u2013new, old, borrowed, blue\u2013that\u2019s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.<\/p>\n<p>This is is &#8220;The Marquee and the Moon&#8221; by Sloan:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YVWDx44KhII\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Today is Canada Day, so here&#8217;s a Canadian band, and my favo(u)rite Canadian band, most probably.\u00a0 There&#8217;s a huge pile of Sloan songs to choose from, and they&#8217;re also a band that puts together great albums&#8211;albums that aren&#8217;t just a collection of songs thrown together, but rather, have real shape to them.\u00a0 Among the things I love about this particular song is the layers of simple parts that add to something dramatic and more complex.
