{"id":1721,"date":"2018-09-07T09:06:52","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T08:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/douglascowie.com\/?p=1721"},"modified":"2018-09-06T14:15:21","modified_gmt":"2018-09-06T13:15:21","slug":"song-of-the-week-hopeless-by-screaming-females","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.douglascowie.net\/?p=1721","title":{"rendered":"Song of the Week: &#8220;Hopeless&#8221; by Screaming Females"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Each Friday I pick a song\u2013new, old, borrowed, blue\u2013that\u2019s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.<\/p>\n<p>This is &#8220;Hopeless&#8221; by Screaming Females:<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZIL6QUYoUes\" width=\"351\" height=\"220\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\">\ufeff<\/span><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I heard a lot of really terrific music at the End of the Road festival last weekend, and one of my highlights was an afternoon set by Screaming Females. I more or less went because I figured a band called Screaming Females would probably kick ass in some kind of way, and it turns out I was right. Screaming Females kicks ass in a big riff, guitar hero (heroine), big voice kind of way. They don&#8217;t waste songs on single riffs, either; they chunder and bellow through a few sounds and ideas every three to five minutes.
