Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
This is “Grace Kelly” by Jambinai:
I went to see Korean noise-merchants Jambinai earlier this week with a group of friends. It was a loud, fun and exciting show. I’ve never experienced a band making this level of noise while all sitting down. There are numerous things to like about Jambinai, but what I liked most was the textures that their unique instrumentation–a mix of electric guitar, bass, drum kit and some Korean instruments I don’t know the names of and haven’t had a chance to look up yet–brought to my ears. “Grace Kelly,” introduced as “a song about a beautiful woman,” was the encore on Monday night at Oslo. I could’ve happily listened to them for another hour.
