Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
This is The Black Crowes performing “Nebakanezer”:
The Black Crowes — “Nebakanezer”
It’s easy to dismiss the Black Crowes. They had a couple big hits 20 or so years ago (the biggest was their version of “Hard to Handle”). They belt out blues rock. They’re stoners. On the other hand, while they’re not a band I particularly listen to, I did see them live several years ago, and that verb I used in the third sentence? They belt it out. The Black Crowes are a great live band: they swagger, they rock, they party.
I promised my buddy Jeff I’d play this song on the radio when I guest deejayed on WRCU-FM a couple of weeks ago, but I couldn’t track it down, so I’ve made it this week’s feature instead.
