Last week Dan, one of my longest-time buddies, wrote me an email to announce, “‘Game of Pricks’ is my new (old) favorite song.” That seems good enough to me. When I first heard Guided by Voices back in 199whatever, it was on a cassette that my friend (and Dan’s then-girlfriend) Meg dubbed for me of Bee Thousand. It sounded like the best thing I’d ever heard then, and I more or less still think that now.
