Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.
This is “Bullingdon Club” by Lux Lisbon:
If Bruce Springsteen were young and British, this is the song he would’ve written. I suppose that’s a fancy way of saying this sounds like Bruce Springsteen, but so what? Somebody’s gotta say these things, and plenty do, but somebody’s gotta sing about them too, and Lux Lisbon are, so let ’em. And listen. There’s an election coming up in the UK; remember that Ronald Reagan used “Born in the USA” as his campaign song in 1984, and imagine now, if you will, David Cameron prancing across the stage to the call of “You’ve been fucked by the Bullingdon Club.” We can all dream.

David ‘The Boss’ Cameron and Bullingdon… never! What an unlikely association! Next you’ll be linking George ‘Ozzy’ Osborne and Brian ‘Boris’ Johnson with the club. But back to the vaguely sensible part of your blurb. Yeh its Springsteen filtered through a Killers quail egg and champers mash-up. I don’t like it.
