Each Friday I pick a song–new, old, borrowed, blue–that’s been on my mind and in my ears, and write a short post about it.

This is “Das Herz von Sankt Pauli” by Die Phantastix:

Last Friday my band, Probably Your Teacher, played in Hamburg, and we finished our set with a version of this song, which is originally by Hans Albers, from a film of the same title as the song. It’s sung by fans of FC Sankt Pauli, in the version you get here. I’m writing this ahead of time. If we didn’t play it well, it may well be the end of Song of the Week.
